The Seri Manjung Magistrate’s Court today granted the police’s application to alter the remand order on two Royal Malaysian Navy personnel being held to facilitate investigations into the death of two other personnel on Sept 29.
The new remand order for investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder) replaces the earlier order, under Section 325/506 of the Penal Code (voluntarily causing grievous hurt/criminal intimidation).
Effective today, the duo aged 27 and 39 are held for seven days under the new remand order issued by Magistrate Ainul Bashiirah Dona Don Biyajid.
Both suspects wearing lockup uniform arrived in court in a police truck around 8.30 am and emerged from the courtroom about an hour later.
On Sept 29, Nik Muhammad Baihaqy Nik Mat, 28, and Muhammad Lailatuliman Mohd Sukri, 26, died in the detention room at Sungai Wangi, Sitiawan while undergoing training.
According to the forensic report issued by Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, both victims’ lungs were bleeding as a result of blunt trauma.
