KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded a total of 1,210 new infections, making the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country currently at 49,730 cases.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement said states around the Klang Valley recorded 518 new positive cases.
"Out of the number, 435 cases (84.0 per cent) are from the various clusters.
"206 cases reported in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur are from the Damanlela Construction Site Cluster, all of which involving non-citizens.
"A total of 142 cases (|52.4 per cent) reported in Selangor are from the Teratai Cluster involving 131 non-citizens (92.3 per cent).
"These two clusters involved workplaces," he said in a media statement on Tuesday.
He added that Sabah recorded 499 new cases.
Ä total of 122 cases (24.4 per cent) were reported from the Sandakan Prison Cluster while 106 cases
(21.2 per cent) were from a new cluster, namely Avenue Cluster.
"A total of 172 cases (14.2 per cent) reported today involved clusters from prisons.
"These involved the Sandakan Prison Cluster (122 cases ),Tembok Cluster (20 cases), Kepayan Prison Cluster (16 cases), and Seberang Perai Prison Cluster (14 cases)," he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said out of the 1,210 cases reported on Tuesday, there were 19 import cases who were infected abroad.
"19 import cases received infections from abroad involving five citizens and another 14 non-citizens.
"The number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is now 13,806 cases," he said.

He said Malaysia also recorded 1,018 cases of full recovery, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 36,624 cases which is equivalent to 73.6 per cent.
Within 24 hours, he said five new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of death cases in the country to 318 cases (0.64 per cent of the total cases).
