COVID-19: 1,240 new cases, 7 deaths reported

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) informed that a total of 1,240 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported, bringing the cumulative number of positive pandemic cases in Malaysia to 27,805 cases.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, out of that number, two cases are contagious from abroad.
"Two import cases involving non-citizens arriving from Russia were detected in Selangor while an Ukrainian was detected in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
"The number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is currently 9,744 cases," he said in a press conference on Monday.
Of the latest COVID-19 positive cases, Sabah continues to be the largest contributor of contagion cases with an increase of 927 cases followed by the Klang Valley area with an increase of 194 cases.
MOH also reported seven new death cases, bringing the total number of death cases in Malaysia to 236 cases.
Meanwhile, according to Noor Hisham, a total of 94 positive cases of COVID-19 were being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and out of that number, 31 needed respiratory assistance.
Within 24 hours, a total of 691 cases were reported to have fully recovered, bringing the cumulative number of cases recovered in the country to 17,825 cases.
