COVID-19: 168 new cases of Variants of Concern reported from Feb 13 to 19 - Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported a total of 168 new cases of Variant of Concern (VOC) from Feb 13 to 19.
According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the infections consists of 33 Delta variant cases and 135 Omicron variant cases.
This brings the overall total number of cases infected with ARS-CoV-2 virus, categorised as VOC and Variant of Interest (VOI), to 7,754.
From the total number of infections identified, about 7,734 cases were VOC while another 20 cases were of VOI.
Meanwhile, as of to date, under VOC, there are 6,537 Delta variant cases, 950 (Omicron variant), 233 (Beta variant), and 14 (Alpha variant).
Dr Noor Hisham said, for the cases detected as VOI, there were 13 Theta variant cases, four (Kappa variant) and three (Eta variant) reported.
