COVID-19: 2,720 new infections, 5,718 recoveries and eight deaths

Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 2,720 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, taking the cumulative number of cases of the virus infection to 269,165 cases.
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded eight more new deaths due to COVID-19 today, bringing the cumulative number of deaths in the country to 983.
At the same time, a total of 2,720 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, taking the cumulative number of cases of the virus infection to 269,165 cases.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said all the new cases involved local cases.
No import cases were recorded within 24 hours.
Also on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health recorded a total of 5,718 patients who have recovered and allowed to return home.
This makes the number of patients that have recovered higher than the number of new infections.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity was 44,129 cases.
Selangor continued to record the highest new COVID-19 infection by state with 1,300 cases, followed by Johor (451 cases) and Kuala Lumpur (318 cases).
So far, a total of 253 patients were receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 118 of whom needing respiratory aid.
The Ministry of Health also informed that there were 19 new clusters identified.
