KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded a total of 4,214 new COVID-19 cases within 24 hours, bringing the current cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in the country to 219,713.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah, said of the total, nine cases of imports were reported to have received infection from abroad while the rest were local cases.
Regarding the spread of COVID-19 by state, Selangor recorded the highest daily cases with 1,362, followed by Johor with 1,068 and Kuala Lumpur with 702 cases.
"There are currently 48,074 cases with active COVID-19 infectivity," he said in a statement on Monday.
According to Dr Noor Hisham, 10 new death cases were recorded, bringing the total number of death cases to 770.
To date, a total of 316 cases are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and out of that, 137 cases require respiratory assistance.
The number of recovery cases continued to record an increase of 4,280 cases, bringing the cumulative number of cases recovered to 170,329.
Meanwhile, 14 new clusters have been identified involving nine workplace clusters, three high-risk group clusters and two community clusters.
The clusters are Jalan Lagoon Construction Site Cluster in Petaling district, Selangor (76 positive cases); Puchong Industry Cluster in Petaling district, Selangor (44 positive cases); Sungai Purun Cluster in Petaling and Hulu Langat districts, Selangor (27 positive cases); Kampung Parit Majid Cluster in Muar, Johor (44 positive cases); Jalan Puchong Construction Site Cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur (332 positive cases).
Jalan Empat Cluster in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (29 positive cases); Jalan Tan Cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur (17 positive cases); Ladang Sungai Pin Cluster in Kinabatangan, Sabah (36 positive cases); Kampung Samin Cluster in Sipitang, Kota Belud and Tuaran, Sabah (33 positive cases); Padas Damit Cluster in Beaufort, Sabah (32 positive cases).
Persiaran Raya Cluster in Manjung, Perak (18 positive cases); Lapangan Siber Cluster in Kinta, Perak (21 positive cases); Bintang Daily Cluster in Meradong, Sarawak (8 positive cases); and Nilam Tiga Cluster in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (63 positive cases).
