COVID-19: 799 new positive cases today

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 799 new COVID-19 cases were recorded today with 636 or 79.6 per cent of them from Sabah and areas in the Klang Valley currently under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 466 cases were detected in Sabah while the Klang Valley recorded 170 cases with 150 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (19) and Putrajaya (one).
Meanwhile, Labuan recorded 65 cases, Penang (35), Negeri Sembilan (23), Sarawak (16), Perak (10), Johor (nine) and Kedah (five).
He said there were 491 recoveries reported today, bringing the cumulative number of cases recovered to 20,248, which is 65.6 per cent of the total.
"The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported in Malaysia (so far) is 30,889, while the number of active cases with infectivity is 10,392 cases," he said during his press conference on COVID-19 here today.
Dr Noor Hisham said 29 of the 799 cases reported today were related to clusters from prisons, namely the Remand Prison Cluster with 20 cases, the Kepayan Prison Cluster (six) and the Tembok Cluster (three).
He said there were 90 COVID-19 positive cases being treated in the Intensive Care Unit and 20 of them required respiratory assistance.
He added that there were three COVID-19-related deaths reported today, all from Sabah.
"The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia is 249 cases (0.8 per cent of the total number of cases)," he said.
