COVID-19: 822 new cases with two deaths recorded today

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health has informed that there was an increase of 822 new COVID-19 cases recorded today bringing the total number of cases in the country to 42,872 cases.

According to the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, out of that number, seven are imported cases involving one citizen and six non-citizens.

Sabah still recorded the highest daily cases with 259 cases (31.5 per cent) followed by the state in the Klang Valley with 202 cases (24.6 per cent).

Meanwhile, active cases with infectiousness also increased to 11,497 cases, and the daily recovery cases recorded a total of 769 cases making the cumulative number of recovered cases is 31,073 cases (72.5 percent).

To date, there are 86 positive cases being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 30 cases requiring respiratory assistance.

There was an increase of two deaths recorded today, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 302 cases.

Here are the details of the local contagion case;

• Sabah: 258 cases

• 56 cases from clusters, including 12 cases from clusters
• new namely Haven Cluster, Karamunting Cluster and Saga Cluster
• 91 cases from close contact screening of COVID-19 positive cases; and
• 111 cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Negeri Sembilan: 225 cases

• 221 cases from existing clusters
• One case of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI)
• Three cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Selangor: 176 cases

• 102 cases from existing clusters
• 38 cases from COVID-19 positive case close contact screening
• 36 cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Federal Territory of Labuan: 46 cases

• 16 cases from existing clusters
• 25 of COVID-19 positive case close contact screening
• Five cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Penang: 26 cases

• 21 cases from existing clusters;
• Two cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI); and
• Three cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur: 17 cases

• 14 cases from existing clusters
• Two cases of COVID-19 positive case close contact screening
• One case from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Kedah: 17 cases

• 16 cases from existing clusters
• One case of close contact screening of COVID-19 positive case.

• Sarawak: 14 cases

• Eight cases from existing clusters
• Four cases from COVID-19 positive case close contact screening
• Two cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Perak: 14 cases from existing clusters.

• Johor: 10 cases

• Seven cases from existing clusters
• One case of close contact screening of COVID-19 positive case
• Two cases from other COVID-19 screenings.

• Melaka: Six (6) cases from existing clusters.

• Federal Territory of Putrajaya: Three cases from existing clusters.

• Perlis: Two cases from existing clusters.

• Kelantan: One case from an existing cluster.
