COVID-19: 835 new cases, Sabah records decline, two deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded a total of 835 new infections, making the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country currently at 28,640 cases.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, out of the total, five cases of imports got the infection from abroad while the rest were domestic transmission.

"Five cases of imports received infections from abroad involving one citizen and four other non-citizens.

"The number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is now 9,903 cases," he said in a daily press conference on the development of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

According to him, within 24 hours, the state of Sabah saw a positive development when there was a decrease in new infections by 517 cases while the states in the Klang Valley recorded an increase of 138 new cases.

He said two new deaths were recorded within 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 238 cases.

Commenting on the cases being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Dr Noor Hisham informed that, so far, there were 89 cases being treated and out of that number, 32 cases require respiratory assistance.

Malaysia also recorded 674 cases that have fully recovered, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 18,499 cases.
