COVID-19: 88 positive cases at three construction site clusters

Dr Noor Hisham said the Kuala Lumpur 2 Construction Site Cluster was detected from a total of 350 samples taken.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has identified 88 COVID-19 positive cases out of three clusters involving construction sites until yesterday.
Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 31 positive cases were detected at the Kuala Lumpur Construction Site Cluster; Setia Alam Site Cluster (13) and Kuala Lumpur 2 Construction Site Cluster (44).
"For the Kuala Lumpur Construction Site Cluster, out of the 488 samples taken, a total of 31 positive cases were detected involving 29 Bangladeshi and two Indonesians while 457 others were found to be negative.
"For the Setia Alam Construction Site Cluster, out of the 91 samples taken, 13 positive cases were detected comprising Bangladeshis while the other 78 were negative," he said at a daily press conference here on Tuesday.
Dr Noor Hisham said the Kuala Lumpur 2 Construction Site Cluster was detected from a total of 350 samples taken.
Out of the total, he said, 44 COVID-19 positive cases were detected which included 34 Bangladeshis, Indonesians (nine) and Malaysian (one) while another 306 were negative for the virus.
He added that the clusters were identified following instructions to screen foreign workers for the construction industry, especially in the red zone in Selangor and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
"As of May 26, a total of 27,383 workers at the construction site had been filtered for COVID-19 by their respective employers.
"The Federal Territory Health Department (JKWP) of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have also applied for the closure of construction sites and shared houses involved with the Kuala Lumpur 2 Construction Site Cluster," he said.
