COVID-19: 959 new cases, five more deaths recorded

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reports a total of 959 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infection in the country to 76,265 cases.
According to the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, six imported cases were reported of returnees from abroad.
"Active cases with COVID-19 infectivity accumulated to 10,748 cases," he said at a daily press conference on the development of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Selangor recorded the highest increase of cases with 277, followed by Sabah with 203 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 129 cases.
According to Dr Noor Hisham, five new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 393.
For the new death cases, Sabah and Johor recorded two cases each and one case in Selangor.
To date, there are 127 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which 61 cases require respiratory assistance.
Dr Noor Hisham said the increase in the number of recoveries at 1,068 patients brings the cumulative number of those recovered and discharged to 65,124 patients.
