The people are advised not to use dirty public toilets to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the community should always prioritise personal hygiene in view of the fact that infections can occur in closed and unclean areas.
“We advise everyone to take action to improve personal hygiene.
"If the public toilet is dirty, then please do not use the public toilet. It is our choice but we also want to ensure that employers who manage the public toilets regularly carry out disinfection and sanitisation practices in the area.
"This is important because infections can occur in closed areas and in areas that are not clean," he said at a press conference here Thursday.
He said this in response to allegations that public toilets were not well supervised for public use.
In this regard, Dr Noor Hisham said the cooperation of all parties was important in ensuring that hygiene was kept first in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the public.
