The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that the increased clinical waste disposal following the COVID-19 pandemic in the country is still under control.
Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the process was carried out by the support management at the MOH based on existing guidelines.
"So, maybe the accumulation or increase of this clinical waste over the holiday season may have less staff but I think this is normal.
"They can manage the clinical waste well and so far we have no problems with it," he said at a press conference here today.
Previously, the Ministry of Environment and Water said the disposal of clinical waste has increased to 27 per cent in March compared with 17 per cent in February.
The percentage was higher than the previous year's average, with the disposal of clinical waste including gloves, face masks and clothing from health centres and clinics, increasing following the outbreak.
