COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia cross 600 mark today

KUALA LUMPUR: Deaths from COVID-19 in the country have crossed the 600-case mark with another seven fatalities reported today, bringing the total to 601 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the deaths today involved three victims in Selangor, two in Johor and one each in Kedah and Negeri Sembilan.
The youngest victim was a 32-year-old local woman in Selangor but there were no details on her underlying health condition while the oldest victim was a 93-year-old man in Kedah who was suffering from diabetes, hypertension as well as chronic kidney and heart problems.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 3,339 new cases reported today with 3,324 of them being local transmissions while the remaining cases were imported.
"The rise in daily cases takes the cumulative COVID-19 cases to 158,434 while active cases with infectivity are now at 37,782," he said in a statement on the development of COVID-19 today.
