The government today ruled that the Jalan Masjid India and its surrounding areas be gazetted under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from today until April 28.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the decision was made based on the advice of the Ministry of Health (MoH) following the increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the area.
He said the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the EMCO in Jalan Masjid India was the same as the one used in the previous four EMCO areas.
“The EMCO in Jalan Masjid India involves Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Melaka and Jalan Ampang around Masjid India.
"All residents of the affected areas are requested to calm down and fully cooperate with the MoH personnel and obey all the instructions of the authorities," he said at a COVID-19 daily media conference here today.
For the record, it is the fifth EMCO after Hulu Langat, Simpang Renggam, Menara City One and the Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion Building.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO period for the Hulu Langat area ended today but it did not include two identified areas, Maahad Tahfiz An-Nabawiyyah, and a house in Batu 23, Kampung Paya Lebar, Sungai Lui.
In addition, he said, the EMCO would continue until April 28 due to the increasing number of positive cases among the people in the area.
