The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (Ketsa) has developed a dashboard application (WebGIS) to help the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the National Security Council (MKN) obtain detailed information on COVID-19.
The ministry in a statement said the app, developed by its agency the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (Jupem) on March 18, provides a Common Operating Picture for ATM and MKN on the latest development of COVID-19 via a daily statement of positive cases among people under surveillance (PUS) from within the ATM and MKN communities as well as members of the public.
"This app is also an important medium for the delivery of geospatial data in times of emergency.
"It is equipped with a display containing the attribute and spatial information which helps in the development of GIS app for monitoring purposes and overall reportage summary," read the statement, issued in conjunction with the visit of Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah to Jupem today.
It said data used in the development of the WebGIS was obtained from official sources including the Ministry of Health's National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre, ATM's Medical Corp and news reports published by the local media.
Meanwhile, during the visit, Shamsul Anuar received donations amounting to RM145,000 for the COVID-19 Fund from agencies related to Jupem such as Land Surveyors Board Malaysia, the Association of Authorised Land Surveyors Malaysia, the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia, Koperasi Jurukur Tanah Berlesen Berhad and Yayasan Kebajikan Jurukur Tanah Berdaftar.
