COVID-19: Malaysia logs another 2,796 new cases, one death

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia detected another 2,796 new daily COVID-19 iinfections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 4,549,847.
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), 2,587 cases were local transmissions and 209 were imported cases.
Selangor leads with a total of 930 COVID-19 cases registered, followed by Kuala Lumpur (843), Penang (203), Negeri Sembilan (156), Sabah (137), Perak (123) and Malacca (109).
Meanwhile, Sarawak reported with a two-digit mark reporting about 70 cases, followed by Johor (52), Kedah (49), Putrajaya (48), Pahang (30) and Kelantan (29).
Terengganu had eight cases, followed by Perlis (6) and Labuan (3).
Currently, active cases stood at 27,318.
MOH also recorded one death in Kuala Lumpur., which was classified as Brought-In-Dead.
The country have logged a total of 35,742 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
A total of 1,009 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, 38 in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 21 of them requiring breathing assistance.
As of yesterday, a total of 2,503 recoveries were reported, taking the total number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,486,787.
