KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded another 7,703 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours.

Only two from today's new cases were imported while the remainder were local transmissions.

According to a tweet by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Selangor topped the list of states for the 11th consecutive day, with the most COVID-19 cases again at 2,728, followed by Kuala Lumpur with another 701 news cases,  Sarawak with 588 and Johor with 554.

Active cases with COVID-19 infection now stands at 82, 274.

According to MOH data, the country recorded a total of 5,777 patients recovered and were discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 501,898 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham also noted on the surge of new deaths recorded at 126, bringing the country's death toll to 2,993.

As of today, there are a total of 878 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 441 of these patients require respiratory support.
