COVID-19: Malaysia recorded 2,062 new cases, 911 recoveries

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported the third highest daily case of COVID-19 transmission with 2,062 new cases.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 97,389.
According to the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, only four from today's new cases were imported while the remainder were local transmissions.
"Active cases with COVID-19 infectivity are now 17,646 cases," he said during a press conference on Tuesday.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, 887 cases from the record logged in Selangor were from existing clusters and close contact screenings actively conducted on the ground.
Meanwhile, Malaysia recorded a total of 911 recoveries today, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 79,304.
Dr Noor Hisham said there is an increase of one new death, bringing the country's death toll to 439.
As of today, there are a total of 111 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 51 of them requiring respiratory assistance.
