COVID-19: Malaysia records 1,470 new cases, three deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia records 1, 470 new daily cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Selangor recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 551 cases, followed by Sarawak with 222 cases and Penang with 178 cases.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 322,409 cases.
Only 12 from today's new cases were imported while the remainder were local transmissions.
According to the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, active cases with COVID-19 infection is now at 16,711.
He added that a total of 89 cases (6.1 per cent) reported were related to clusters in prisons and Immigration Detention Depots (DTI) involving the Tembok Tapah Cluster with 49 cases, Persiaran Wawasan DTI Cluster with 29 cases, Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster with eight cases, Tembok Mempaga Cluster with two cases and Taiping Wall Cluster with one case.
Dr Noor Hisham said, two new clusters were also identified today, involving the Johor Bahru district and one workplace cluster in Kuala Lumpur.
A total of three new deaths were reported, bringing the country's death toll to 1,206 deaths.
Meanwhile, Malaysia recorded a total of 1,830 recoveries today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 304, 492 cases.
As of today, there are a total of 162 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 70 of these patients require respiratory assistance.
