COVID-19: Malaysia records 1,690 new cases, no new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: A slight drop in COVID-19 cases was registered over the weekend, with a total of 1,690 infections reported, taking the cumulative number of cases to 4,540,612..
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), out of the total, 10 were imported cases while the remainder were local infections.
MOH recorded a total of 2,108 recoveries, bringing the cumulative number to 4,478,936.
Currently there are 25,944 active cases nationwide.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said there were no new COVID-related deaths reported as of midnight Sunday.
The last time zero deaths were reported was on Dec 18, 2020, Khairy noted in a post on Twitter.
So far, the country has recorded a total of 35,732 COVID-related deaths, since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
According to the data on COVIDNOW, there are 1,000 COVID-19 patients hospitalised with 23 patients in the intensive care unit.
