COVID-19: Malaysia records another death, 30 new cases, no import case

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced another case of COVID-19 death, bringing the cumulative number of deaths in Malaysia to 106 cases.
MOH director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said as of 12 noon on Tuesday, there were 30 new positive cases and this resulted in 6,383 cases of COVID-19 in the country.
He said no import cases were recorded on Tuesday and there were 30 cases of local outbreak, of which 21 were detected from clusters and localities under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (PKPD) involving 24 non-citizens.
At the same time, he said there were 83 cases that had recovered and allowed to be discharged, bringing the total cumulative number of fully recovered cases to 4,567 cases, equivalent to 71.55 per cent of the total number of cases.
“Therefore, after the cumulative cases are deducted with both discharged and death cases, the total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,710 cases. They were isolated and treated.
“To date, 24 COVID-19 positive cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Of these, 8 cases require respiratory aid,” he said in a daily press conference here Tuesday.
He also said the addition of another COVID-19 related death raised the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 106 cases (1.66 per cent of the total case).
The details of the death case as of May 5, 2020 are as follows:
The 106th death (Case 830) was a 47-year-old Malaysian citizen. He was admitted to a private hospital on March 15, 2020 and was later transferred to Sungai Buloh Hospital on March 16, 2020 after being positively diagnosed with COVID-19. He was pronounced dead on May 5, 2020 at 2.10 am.
