COVID-19: Malaysia records highest daily deaths with 25 more fatalities

KUALA LUMPUR: The country once again recorded the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 when a total of 25 more victims were reported in the last 24 hours.

The increase in death cases has brought the death toll in the country to 1,030 since the first death case on March 17 last year.

In a similar development, Malaysia also recorded another 2,712 new infections.

The figure puts the number of positive cases in the country below 3,000 cases for five consecutive days.

This brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases to 274,875.

Meanwhile, the number of new recovery cases once again provided relief to Malaysians when it continued to record an increase of 5,320.

For that, the number of cases recovered in the country was now 235,082 or equivalent to 85.52 per cent.

The number of active cases continued to show a declining trend to 38,763 with 227 patients in intensive care units including 103 in need of respiratory assistance.
