COVID-19: Malaysia's daily cases drop to 1,571 with one death reported

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported another 1,571 COVID-19 infections as of midnight Sunday (12 June), taking the overall total of confirmed cases in the country to 4,526,298 since the pandemic started.
Selangor (714) is recorded the highest daily number, ahead of Kuala Lumpur (221), Penang (133) and Perak (106).
Meanwhile, double digit cases were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (84), Sabah (58), Johor (55), Melaka (55), Sarawak (40), Kedah (28), Pahang (24), Terengganu (20) and Putrajaya (15).
Single digit cases were recorded in Kelantan (9), Perlis (5) and Labuan (4).
According to the COVIDNOW portal, there were 1,887 recoveries, which bring the total recoveries so far to 4,468,191.
The Health Ministry reports one COVID-related death, raising the pandemic death toll in the country to 35,712 cases.
Currently there are 22,395 active cases, including 976 cases in the hospitals nationwide.
A total of 26 are in ICU with 15 in need of breathing aids.
ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 59.9%, with COVID ICU utilisation at 5.9%.
Active clusters remained at four out of 7,015 identified as of now with two education clusters in Kelantan (Hilir 3 Kota Bharu) and Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Ipoh Titiwangsa).
As of last midnight, Malaysia has administered about 7,387 COVID-19 vaccines, out of which 422 of the population received their first dose, with a total of 6,320 completing their second dose and about 645 got the booster jabs.
