COVID-19: New high of 5,728 cases, Selangor highest with 3,285

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 5,728 new COVID-19 cases were reported today, making it the highest daily number of new cases ever recorded in the country so far.
Malaysia recorded 5,725 cases yesterday.
Selangor still recorded the highest number among all the states with 3,285 cases, followed by Johor (792) and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 480 cases.
In a statement, Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported the total number of new recovery cases was 3,805 cases while the cumulative number of cases recovered was 161,527 (77.04 pct).
"The cumulative number of cases in the country as at today is 209,661 cases with the total number of active cases with infectivity at 47,388.
"There were 5,723 local cases while the five import cases were reported to be two citizens and the other three were non-citizens," the statement said.
Meanwhile, 13 more deaths were recorded, bringing the cumulative number of death cases to 746.
To date, there are 319 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), 120 of whom requiring respiratory assistance.
