COVID-19: One new cluster, 27 positive cases reported in Sarawak

KUCHING: Another new cluster known as the Greenhill Cluster was reported in Kuching today.
The announcement, made ina press conference of the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) on Wednesday, also reported an increase of 21 positive COVID-19 cases from this cluster.
With this additional new cluster, Sarawak's active COVID-19 clusters increased to five including Bah Arnab Cluster, Putra Cluster, Baki Cluster and Seladah Cluster.
According to its chairman, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, so far the Greenhill Cluster has recorded 25 positive cases including index cases.
For this cluster, 51 individuals were screened, 25 were confirmed positive for COVID-19 while another 26 individuals were still awaiting screening test results.
"The positive case rate for this cluster is 42.22 per cent and as of 12.00 noon on October 28, 2020, no deaths have been reported involving this cluster," he said.
Among others, Sarawak today recorded 27 positive COVID-19 cases involving 20 cases in Kuching, four in Miri, two in Sibu and one case in Bintulu.
This brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Sarawak to 846 cases to date.
Uggah explained that 20 new cases in Kuching were categorized as local infection cases.
"14 cases are contacts to 798 cases reported on October 26, 2020. These cases have social contacts who have a history of attending several meetings with 798 cases in Kuching.
"Six more cases are individuals undergoing self-screening of COVID-19 at a private health facility in Kuching and all cases do not have a history of travel to areas at risk of infection," he added.
In Miri, four reported cases were categorized as import cases B and C involving three cases returning from high risk areas and one case had a history of travel to Kuching on 21 October 2020 and had met 818 cases which was a contact to 798 cases.
Two cases in Sibu and Bintulu are categorized as import B cases that have a history of travel to Selangor and Johor; as well as a case in Bintulu involving a Filipino man on 15 October 2020.
