Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will make a special announcement tonight (Monday) on the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The Prime Minister said the announcement will be made via live tv broadcast (expected at 10 pm) after he chairs a special meeting with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).
"We will discuss the steps that need to be taken and we will announce it tonight to clarify matters to Malaysians," he told a press conference after chairing the first Economic Action Council (EAC) meeting here.
Asked if the government would impose a lockdown, Muhyiddin said, "Just wait for the announcement. Please be patient.
“We will discuss this matter in a meeting with NADMA that I will chair,” he said without elaborating.
Previously, social media posts claimed that Malaysia would impose a curfew following a sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 cases since yesterday.
However, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba in a posting via his official Facebook account, said the infographic was a fake.
