A sum of RM100.7 million will be allocated through the Selangor Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package 2.0 specifically to drive the state's economy through digitalisation after it was affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the current situation had prompted the state government to adopt digitalisation as a fulcrum or a balancing aspect of the state administration.
“Through new efforts of E-learning, Selangor Advance and Selangor Grab Digital Initiatives, Selangor has a commitment to 'stay ahead of the game' by driving the state economy through digitalisation.
“It is to ensure the state economy can create new job opportunities as well as maintain existing jobs. For these efforts, a sum of RM100.7 million is allocated,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Sungai Tua state assemblyman said the state government would spend RM87.71 million on quit rent related matters.
"In an effort to facilitate the payment of quit rents, the period of payment for quit rents and parcel tax will be extended to July 31, 2020. The premium payment period is extended to one month for the duration of the Movement Control Order (MCO)," he added.
In addition, Amirudin said a second special allocation to the state assemblymen of RM30,000 would be channelled soon.
He said council members, traditional village heads, Kampung Baru MPKK chairman and community leaders would also receive special allocations from their respective local authorities except for Sabak Bernam District Council, totalling RM6.91 million.
