COVID-19: Sarawak records its highest daily at 55 cases

KUCHING: Sarawak has reported 55 new COVID-19 cases today, the highest in the state so far.
The latest infections take the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in Sarawak to 1,251 cases.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a statement said from the total daily positive cases today, 37 cases were detected in Sibu, 15 cases in Kuching, two in Miri and one in Bintulu.
The earlier highest daily total recorded was 32 cases on April 1 2020.
According to JPBN, the Sarawak Health Department today detected a new cluster which is the Pasai cluster in Sibu and Mukah districts which was the largest contributor of positive cases today.
"As at noon yesterday, 73 individuals have been screened (in the cluster) with 38 detected positive for COVID-19 (not including the index case) while 27 individuals are still waiting for results," said JPBN.
Apart from that, there were four cases of recovery today taking the overall number of recoveries from COVID-19 to 1,094 people or 87.45 per cent of the overall total COVID-19 cases in Sarawak.
JPBN also said Sibu has now turned from a yellow to orange zone today when 39 cases of local infections were reported in the past 14 days while Lawas improved from yellow to green zone when no positive COVID-19 cases were detected during the period.
