COVID-19: Sibu, Kuching now red zones

KUCHING: Sibu and Kuching districts in Sarawak were today declared red zones following the increase in the COVID-19 cases in both areas in the last 14 days.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a statement said 44 cases of local infections were reported in Sibu and 41 cases in Kuching during this period.
The Selangau and Sebauh districts went from green zones to yellow when they each recorded a positive case of COVID-19 during the same period.
"Samarahan, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, Meradong, Bukit Mabong, and Sri Aman districts remain yellow zones with a total of 20 cases in the last 14 days.
"Thirty other districts in Sarawak are in green status," according to JPBN.
Meanwhile, JPBN said that Sarawak recorded 24 new COVID-19 cases today, making the cumulative number of pandemic infections in the state at 1,275 cases.
Seven of the new cases were detected in Kuching, five each in Miri and Sibu, two in Sri Aman, and one each in Bintulu, Samarahan, Sebauh, Selangau and Serian.
