The three individuals seen on a video, which has gone viral on social media, purportedly conducting swab tests at a home in a housing area here have been confirmed to be Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel checking on the condition of a person under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19.
Shah Alam District Police chief ACP Baharudin Mat Taib said the van used by the trio as seen in the video also belonged to the Petaling District Health Office and that the vehicle registration number which went viral earlier was inaccurate.
"Police received a report regarding the issue (posing as MOH personnel) yesterday and investigations found that it was a misunderstanding between the complainant and the team present at the complainant's house.
"The MOH personnel were not there to conduct swab tests but to monitor the condition of the person under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19," he said in a statement today.
Baharudin said the MOH lodged a police report today to confirm the presence of its personnel at the said home in Bukit Subang at around 2 pm yesterday to monitor the affected PUI.
He advised the public to stop sharing the video and pictures of the incident.
The one-minute and 10-second video, which went viral on social media, showed three men in a van, bearing the MOH sign, arriving at the house to conduct COVID-19 swab tests.
A screenshot of a WhatsApp message claiming that the registration number of the vehicle used by three men was fake and belonged to a Perodu MyVi car had also gone viral.
