KUALA LUMPUR: New COVID-19 cases rose to 4,097 cases today after dropping to below 4,000 in the past two days.

Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 4,301 recoveries recorded in the past 24 hours.

"From 4,097 new cases logged today, 86 cases or 2.1 per cent were in categories three, four and five while 4,011 cases or 97.9 per cent were in categories one and two," he said in a statement.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, the infectivity rate or Rt nationwide today is 0.94 with Negeri Sembilan having the highest at 1.02 and the lowest is Sarawak (0.73).

He said other detailed information on the current infection and spread of COVID-19 situation in Malaysia would be uploaded on COVIDNOW website at https://covidnow.moh.gov.my.

Data will be updated at 12 midnight daily, he said.
