LABUAN: A total of 83.19 per cent of the 10,200 students aged between 13 and 17 in the Federal Territory of Labuan have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine jab as of Oct 6.
Of the total, 19.07 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari said the vaccination programme for 12-year-old students will begin tomorrow (Oct 9).
"The vaccination programme involves the cooperation from the Education Department and Residents Representative Council," he told Bernama today.
Labuan is among the pioneer states involved in the reopening of schools nationwide on Oct 4 following its transition to Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan after recording a good performance under the National Immunisation Plan.
There are 10 secondary and 17 primary schools in Labuan.
In another development, Labuan has completed 100 per cent vaccination against COVID-19 among its adult population on Tuesday (Sept 7).
Apart from locals, the adult population among the immigrants on the island has also been vaccinated, especially at the two Philippines Refugee Community Settlement Schemes.
