COVID: New cases drop to 7,420 today - Health D-G

Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on the development of the country's COVID-19 situation said of the new cases reported, 108 cases or 1.5 per cent were in Categories Three, Four and Five while 7,312 cases or 98.5 per cent were in Categories One and Two with none and minor symptoms respectively.

Category Three refers to patients with pneumonia, Category Four as requiring oxygen and Category Five as needing ventilator assistance.

He said recovered cases stood at 11,413, surpassing the number of new cases reported.

He said a total of 635 confirmed COVID-19 cases are being treated at the intensive care units (ICU) of which 282 cases requiring respiratory support.

Dr Noor Hisham also disclosed that 13 new clusters were detected involving nine workplace clusters, three community clusters and one education cluster.

Meanwhile, he said a four-year-old local girl has been identified as the index case of the Persiaran Perdana cluster in Putrajaya when she tested positive on Oct 10 after undergoing symptomatic individual screening.

"This cluster involves students at an educational institution located in Persiaran Perdana, Putrajaya. She began to experience symptoms on Oct 8 and now 11 infected individuals have been identified from 33 screenings conducted," he said.
