COVID: New daily cases drop to 4,949 - Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded a further drop in the number of new daily COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, to 4,949, compared with 5,304 reported yesterday.
Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, via his Twitter post, said that the development brings the cumulative number of cases to 662,457.
He said that Selangor remained the state with the highest number of daily cases with 1,523, followed by Sarawak (744), Kuala Lumpur (503), Johor (430) and Negeri Sembilan (323).
Apart from that, Sabah recorded 273 cases, Penang (214), Kelantan (214), Kedah (199), Perak (136), Melaka (119), Labuan (113), Terengganu (86), Pahang (61), Putrajaya (10) and Perlis (one).
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said that a total of 6,588 patients have recovered today and active cases now stood at 71,625 cases.
Another 60 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 3,968.
"A total of 921 patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 459 of them requiring respiratory assistance," he said.
He added that 17 more clusters were detected today, bringing the total number of active clusters to 774.
