COVID: Singapore reports 30th death

SINGAPORE: Singapore has today reported another death from complications due to COVID-19 infection, taking the cumulative number of fatalities to 30.
In its full data released here, the republic's Ministry of Health (MOH) said the latest fatality involved a 61-year-old male Singaporean who died at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
Labelled as Case 59858, the ministry said the elderly had been in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for work, and returned to Singapore on Jan 30.
The MOH said he developed a cough just before departing the UAE and shortness of breath on the same day, and tested positive for COVID-19 infection upon arrival in Singapore.
He had a past history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and gout, it said.
The last fatality was reported on Nov 28.
As of noon today, the republic reported a total of eight new cases, all imported, thus bringing the total infection here to 60,088.
In all, 59,961 cases had fully recovered, while a total of 17 confirmed cases remained hospitalised and none is in the intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, 80 patients who have mild symptoms or clinically well, but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and being cared for at community facilities.
The republic also closed a COVID-19 cluster today, leaving one at the moment.
