COVID-19: 3,306 new cases, 4 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded a total of 3,306 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the cumulative number of cases in the country to 161,740.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement said of the total, 3,299 cases were local transmissions and seven more were infected from abroad.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 38,791 and another 3,306 recovery cases were also reported.

Selangor recorded the highest new COVID-19 cases with 1,213, followed by Sabah (432), Johor (329) and Kuala Lumpur (250).

At the same time, four more deaths were recorded today, bringing the cumulative number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Malaysia to 605.

To date, a total of 226 patients are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 94 of whom needing respiratory assistance.
