COVID-19: 4,275 new infections, highest recorded so far

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded the highest daily figure with 4,275 new COVID-19 infections today, bringing the cumulative number of infections to 180,455 cases.
In addition, the recovery cases from COVID-19 were also reported to be the highest at 4,313.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said it brings the total number of cases recovered so far to 137,019.
Of the total new cases, 4,264 were local contagions while 11 were imports.
The state of Selangor continues to record the highest increase in daily cases of 1,421 in 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 53,384.
In a similar development, another seven deaths were recorded, with the total number of COVID-19 related deaths increasing to 667.
Yesterday, Malaysia recorded the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths with 18 within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a total of 260 patients were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), 103 of whom needing respiratory assistance.
