COVID-19: 75 patients recovered, 31 new positive cases, 1 death

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced another COVID-19 pandemic fatality, bringing the cumulative number of deaths in Malaysia to 100 cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said as of noon today, the ministry had recorded 31 new positive cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 5,851.

At the same time, 75 cases have recovered and allowed to be discharged.

The increase of 75 recovered patients resulted in a cumulative total of 4,032 cases, equivalent to 68.9 per cent of the total cases.

“Therefore, the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,719 cases. They were isolated and treated.

“To date, 36 positive cases of COVID-19 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Of these, 17 cases require respiratory aid,” he said in a daily press conference here today.

Dr Noor Hisham also said the addition of another COVID-19 related death raised the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 100 (1.7 per cent of the total cases).

The details of the death case as of April 13, 2020 are as follows:

Death No. 100 (Case 3628) was a 67-year-old Malaysian citizen with a background in diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke. He was hospitalized at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor on April 4, 2020 and was pronounced dead on April 28, 2020 at 9.40 am.
