With the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitiri tomorrow, the public is advised to avoid shaking hands or kissing parents especially the elderly.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said such measures are to ensure the COVID-19 pandemic infections to high-risk groups were prevented.
“What is important in this festive season is that we can break the COVID-19 chain.
"So, with the positive action of adhering to the Ministry of Health's standard operating procedure (SOP), we may be able to reduce COVID-19 infection," he said at a daily press conference here today.
Meanwhile, for those who could not return home from work, Dr Noor Hisham said it should be regarded as a sacrifice to the country.
"So we advise them, it is their sacrifice to the country to break the COVID-19 chain together," he said.
Earlier, Dr Noor Hisham informed that 23 cases of COVID-19 infection were detected at some care centres for the elderly.
Of these, 13 cases involved inmates while 10 were staff in care centres.
