The COVID-19 Fund has raised RM125,000

The COVID-19 Fund has raised about RM125,000 since its launch on March 11.

According to the deputy director-general of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Mohamed Zahari Razali, the amount is what NADMA has received and verified until noon today.

"There have been additional donations received from various government-linked companies (GLCs), individuals and parties, the amount of which will be determined from time to time and will be known later.

"NADMA would like to thank all those who have contributed to help the government ease the burden of the people affected by COVID-19 for being unable to work following quarantine and undergoing treatment," he told Astro AWANI on Friday.

On March 11, Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said an aid of RM100 per day from the fund would be given to individuals who have no fixed income or no salary throughout their quarantine period.

He said it involved those who were quarantined for 14 days or receiving treatment at the hospital for having tested positive of COVID-19 under the Ministry of Health (MOH).

"However, those with fixed income such as government servants are not eligible to receive aid from the fund," he said.
