The government has announced it will implement the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from Monday (May 4) to allow the reopening of the country's economy in a controlled and careful manner.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that with the implementation of the CMCO, most of the economic and social activities would be allowed except for activities involving public gatherings and exposing risks to certain groups including senior citizens against the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, he said the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) would also be enforced in the red zone areas.
"I know that after almost two months under the Movement Control Order (MCO), many among you want to return to work, for businesses to reopen business, and for industrial entrepreneurs, they want to ensure their industries can resume operations.
"This is important for all of us as jobs are a source of income, if the MCO is enforced for too long, people will lose their livelihoods and adversely affect their finances," he said.
Muhyiddin said this in the Prime Minister's Special Message in conjunction with Labour Day here today. The special message was broadcast live on Channel 501 and Live TV Astro AWANI.
