The information counter at Sentul Police Station in Kuala Lumpur has been sealed off on the instruction of the Ministry of Health (MOH) after an individual under quarantine for COVID-19 went to the headquarters to lodge a police report, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
However, operations at the station are still ongoing as usual, he said.
“The incident occurred when an individual wearing the pink quarantine wristband came to the station to lodge a report for public harassment.
"The personnel on duty later found that the individual was coughing before reporting him to the hospital," he said when met by reporters after the media conference on Integrated Resource Operations at Paya Indah Wetlands, here today.
Abdul Hamid said MOH was then informed and the ministry had subsequently requested closure of the area visited by the victim for sanitation.
"MOH will announce further information this evening," he said briefly.
Earlier, a notice on the temporary closure of the Sentul Police Station on instruction by the MOH, had gone viralled on social media.
Meanwhile, Sentul police chief ACP S. Shamugamoorthy Chinniah in a statement said the first sanitation operation at the police station had been completed and its officers were not allowed to leave until further notice from Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
"Sentul police station will operate as usual after the completion of the second sanitation process," he said.
