COVID-19: Malaysia logs 2,605 new cases, five deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Another 2,605 new COVID-19 cases were detected as of midnight Wednesday (June 30), taking the national total to 4,563,188 since the pandemic started.
Based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal, about 2,602 cases from the latest total logged were local transmissions, while three others were imported cases.
Currently there are 28,714 active cases in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) there were 1,633 new recoveries, taking the total number of those recovered and discharged to 4,498,711.
Meanwhile, five new COVID-related deaths have been recorded, bringing the death toll to 35,763.
MOH said 40 patients were admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 24 of them in need of breathing assistance.
Malaysia administered a total of 3,140 COVID-19 vaccine doses yesterday.
About 85.8 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 83.5 percent are fully inoculated and 49.4 percent have received booster jabs.
