COVID-19: Malaysia recorded 862 cases, three deaths

At the same time, Malaysia also recorded 643 COVID-19 recovery cases, making the cumulative number of cases fully recovered from COVID-19 at 14,351 cases (64.6 per cent of the total cases).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of cases in Malaysia is at 22,225 cases, with active infectious cases increasing to 7,681.

All the new cases today are local infections involving 745 citizens and 124 non-citizens.

“Selangor is seeing an increase of 132 cases today, making the total COVID-19 cases in this state at 3,489 cases. The first cluster reported in Selangor during this third wave was the Jalan Apas Cluster, on 28 September 2020 where it has been involving families returning from Sabah.

“To date, a total of 26 active clusters were recorded in Selangor starting the first cluster (Jalan Apas Cluster) until the latest cluster is announced (Hentian Cluster).

“This situation is due to population density and high rate of movement among the residents of the state of Selangor and visitors in the state of Selangor,” he said in a media conference at the Ministry of Health (MOH) today.

Sabah still recorded the highest new infections with 673 cases (78.1 per cent).

“Out of 862 new cases reported, two are imported cases, involving one citizen and another non-citizen,” he added.

Dr Noor Hisham said 97 cases (11.1 per cent) were from the Tembok Cluster, Remand Prison Cluster, Seberang Perai Prison and Kepayan Prison Cluster which were isolated cases in prisons.

Detailing the number cases, Dr Noor Hisham said, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory recorded six cases, Putrajaya (one case), Kedah (17 cases), Perak (9 cases), Penang (8 cases), Labuan Federal Territory (six cases), Negeri Sembilan (six cases), Johor (one case) and Kelantan (one case)

‘’From the total cases today, four cases were those returning from Sabah, making the number of cases reportedly having a history of visits to Sabah since Sept 20, 2020 at 452 cases,’’ he said.

MOH has also identified one new COVID-19 cluster, which is Kertang Cluster which involves Kota Belud district in Sabah.
