COVID-19: Malaysia records 2,027 new cases, 8 deaths and 11 more clusters

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded 2,027 new daily COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 122,845.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, out of the total, 2,011 infections were local transmissions while 16 others were imported cases from abroad.
He said the total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 22,887 cases.
Selangor reported the highest new daily cases with 509, followed by Johor with 428 and Sabah with 383 cases.
A total of 111 cases reported were related to the clusters in the lockup, immigration detention and prison depots involving Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster (64 cases), Tembok Gajah Cluster (43 cases), Tembok Choh Cluster (2 cases), and Kepayan Prison Cluster (2 cases)," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Apart from that, he said, a total of 1,221 patients have recovered and discharged, bringing the cumulative number of patients recovered from COVID-19 at 99,449 cases.
Meanwhile, there was an increase of new deaths with eight cases recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia to 509 cases (0.41 per cent of the total cases).
To date, there are 123 positive cases of COVID-19 being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which 52 cases require respiratory assistance.
