COVID-19: Malaysia records 649 new cases, no deaths

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded a total of 649 new infections, making the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country currently 30,090 cases.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah through a tweet on his official Twitter page said, out of the total, seven cases of imports received infection from abroad while the rest were domestic transmission.
"Seven cases of imports received infections from abroad involving two citizens and five other non-citizens.
"The number of active cases with COVID-19 infection is now 10,087 cases," he said in the statement.
He said the number of cases being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) so far was 106 and of that number, 23 cases needed respiratory assistance.
Malaysia also recorded 685 cases that have fully recovered, making the total number of cases recovered at 19,757 cases which is equivalent to 65.7 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, no new deaths were recorded, maintaining the total number of deaths in the country at 246 (0.8 per cent of the total cases).
