COVID-19: Malaysia reports 15,669 new cases, Selangor tops daily cases

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia registers 15,669 new cases, with Selangor reporting the most infections in the last 24-hours.
Selangor recorded 2,632, surpassing Sarawak which recorded 1,983 cases.
The country has so far detected 2,011,440 positive COVID-19 cases since the pandemic outbreak in January 2020.
Five other states that reported more than 1,000 cases were Johor with 1,974, followed by Sabah (1,784) Penang (1,651) Kelantan (1,406) and Kedah (1,207).
Labuan is back to having single digit cases at 3.
In a tweet, health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 954 patients are being treated in intensive care units, including 432 patients requiring ventilator breathing support.
Daily recoveries were reported at 18,053, bringing the tally of COVID-19 recoveries so far to 1.76 million of overall infections.
As of today, a total of 17,480,766 people or 74.7 pct of the country’s adult population have completed their COVID-19 vaccination.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported a total of 227,147 vaccine doses were administered yesterday, of which 69,235 are first dose and 157,912 are second dose.
This brings the total number of vaccines administered in the country to 38,990,335.
