COVID-19: MOH identifies five new clusters

KUALA LUMPUR:The Ministry of Health (MOH) has identified five more new COVID-19 clusters on Thursday.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the clusters were Sakti Cluster, Tuguson Cluster, Bah Medan Cluster, Marine Park Cluster and Taman Bunga Cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on Thursday said the Sakti Cluster involved the Lahad Datu area in Sabah while the Tuguson Cluster involved the Kota Belud district, Sabah.
Apart from that, the Bah Medan Cluster involved the Sepang district in Selangor.
The Marine Park Cluster involved the Petaling district in Selangor while the Taman Bunga Cluster involved the Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jelebu districts in Negeri Sembilan.
Here are the details of the five new clusters identified on Thursday (October 29, 2020):
1) KLUSTER SAKTI This new cluster involved Lahad Datu district in Sabah. The index case for this cluster (i.e. case12995 ) was positively identified COVID-19 as a result of screening in the workplace on 5 October 2020.
Close contact screening has detected 17 more COVID-19 positive cases.
All cases have been admitted to Lahad Datu Hospital.
As of October 29, 2020, at 12 noon, a total of 154 individuals have been screened, of which:
• 18 cases detected positive for COVID-19 (7 new cases); • 101 individuals were detected negatively; and • 35 individuals were still awaiting results.
2) TUGUSON CLUSTER This new cluster involved Kota Belud district, Sabah state. The index case for this cluster (case 19066) has been positively identified as COVID-19 as a result of screening of symptomatic individuals on 15 October 2020 and has been admitted to Kota Belud Hospital.
Close contact screening has detected 17 more COVID-19 positive cases.
As of October 29, 2020, at 12 noon, a total of 146 individuals have been screened, of which:
• 18 cases detected positive for COVID-19 (4 new cases); and • 128 individuals were still awaiting results.
3) BAH MEDAN CLUSTER This new cluster involved the Sepang district in the state of Selangor. The index case for this cluster (case 12112) has been positively identified as COVID-19 as a result of screening of returnees from high risk areas (Sabah) on 3 October 2020.
Close contact screening detected 19 more COVID-19 positive cases.
All cases have been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
As of October 29, 2020, at 12 noon, a total of 52 individuals have been screened, of which:
• 20 cases detected positive for COVID-19 (4 new cases); and • 32 individuals were still awaiting results.
4) MARINE PARK CLUSTER This new cluster involved the Petaling district in the state of Selangor. The index case for this cluster (case 25431) has been positively identified as COVID-19 as a result of screening of symptomatic individuals on 21 October 2020 and has been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Close contact screening has detected five (5) more positive COVID-19 cases.
As of October 29, 2020, at 12 noon, a total of 123 individuals have been screened, of which:
• Six (6) COVID-19 positively detected cases (2 new cases); • 18 individuals were detected negatively; and • 99 individuals were still awaiting results.
5) TAMAN BUNGA CLUSTER This new cluster involved the districts of Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jelebu in Negeri Sembilan. The index case for this cluster (case 27711) has been positively identified as COVID-19 as a result of screening of symptomatic individuals on 25 October 2020 and has been admitted to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.
Close contact screening has detected 22 more COVID-19 positive cases.
As of October 29, 2020, at 12 noon, a total of 55 individuals have been screened, of which:
• 23 cases detected positive for COVID-19 (16 new cases); • 25 individuals detected negative; and • Seven (7) individuals were still awaiting results.
