COVID-19: New cases remain four digits, overall total now 100,318

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded 1,581 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the total number of positive cases in the country to 100,318.
Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said it involved two cases of imports receiving infection from abroad and 1,579 local cases.
The total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is now 18,773 cases, he added.
The state of Selangor remains with the highest new daily cases with 491, followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (379) and Sabah (249).
A total of 270 cases (17.1 per cent) reported were related to clusters in lockups and prisons involving Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster (185 cases), Tembok Gajah Cluster (74 cases), Tawau GK Cluster (6 cases), Tembok Cluster (4 cases) and the Bakti Cluster (1 case)," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,085 recovery cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of cases recovered from COVID-19 to 81,099.
In addition, there was an increase of two deaths today, bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia to 446.
To date, there are 102 positive cases of COVID-19 being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which 45 cases require respiratory assistance.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) had also identified four new clusters, namely the Kebun Baru Cluster, Sungai Burong Cluster, Jalan Tun Construction Site Cluster and Jalan Pandan Cluster.
